SUSTAINABLE PLASTICS Agenda made headlines in the media

The Portuguese Project SUSTAINABLE PLASTICS, which is developing the plastics of the future, has been featured in several Portuguese media outlets.
The reports highlight bottles, packaging, and cups made from corn starch, 100% free of virgin fossil-based materials, which are already being tested by Portuguese researchers and industries as part of WP1 - Circularity through Material Design, within the Mobilising Agenda aimed at driving the transition of the plastics sector towards a circular economy.
Unlike conventional items produced with virgin fossil-based plastic, the new products comprise at least 30% elements derived from corn biorefinery products and 70% recycled plastics or bio-based and/or biodegradable polymers. Innovation will also include a distinctive design.
