Researchers and industry united to promote the bioeconomy in Northern Portugal

Events

Analyse challenges, outline strategies, and define a shared vision to maximise the bioeconomy along Portugal's Northern coast. This was the main objective of a collaborative workshop that took place this May at CeNTI, in Vila Nova de Famalicão (Portugal).

The initiative, held in collaboration with the company Technopolis Portugal, was promoted under the scope of the European Project PRIMED, and was also attended by the Northern Portugal Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N).

In addition to boosting innovation, the in-person session aimed to strengthen partnerships between different players in the value chain, seeking to accelerate the valorisation of bio-based resources and residues from the agri-food, forestry, and blue economy sectors.

At the event, which was attended by companies from several sectors and entities from the scientific system, especially from the Northern coast region, there was space for networking, discussion groups, and presentation of PRIMED Project.

It must be highlighted that the Project’s 2nd Open Call is underway until 30th May. Addressed to primary producers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and industry representatives, the initiative intends to financially support the testing and validation of innovative bio-based products.

PRIMED is funded by the European Union under the @HorizonEU Research and Innovation Programme.
