CeNTI, coordinator of the European CarMine Project, will host the Project’s kick-off meeting on 24 and 25 September, bringing together the consortium partners  in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal. The two-day meeting will focus on aligning partners, clarifying the next steps, and sharing knowledge and networking opportunities.

The CarMine Project aims to develop an integrated strategy for the recovery, recycling, and valorisation of critical and strategic raw materials from end-of-life electric vehicles, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient value chain.

The approach integrates advanced recycling technologies, digital traceability tools and circular business models, focusing on the processing of batteries and electric motors to recover these raw materials, which can then be reintegrated into the production of new materials and products.

CarMine also integrates traceability and data management solutions through the Digital Product Passport, promoting transparency and regulatory compliance throughout the materials’ lifecycle.

In this way, the Project aims to contribute to reducing dependence on virgin raw materials, strengthening security of supply and European industrial autonomy, as well as promoting circularity across value chains associated with electric vehicles.
