Functional and smart fishing gear for octopus capture, new eco-friendly materials for packaging, and active systems to improve footwear comfort are among the new technological Projects and challenges currently being developed with CeNTI’s expertise and know-how. 

These initiatives aim to develop innovative solutions with strong potential for industrial uptake, helping to strengthen the competitiveness of Portuguese industry on a global scale.

Developing safer, more stable and longer-lasting  lithium-ion batteries, enabling the packaging and films industry with high-performance, biodegradable materials, and advancing sustainable mobility and the energy transition, with a particular focus on Northern Portugal, are also among the challenges currently being addressed. 

Through collaboration with the scientific and industrial ecosystem, these Projects seek to develop advanced products and materials, while generating technological solutions across strategic sectors of the Portuguese economy, including energy storage and generation, health and well-being, and mobility.

Drawing on its multidisciplinary expertise and technological infrastructure, CeNTI contributes to different stages of the development process,  with activities focused on applied Nanotechnology, Advanced and sustainable Materials, and Smart Systems.
