Sensoft
Pioneering study of rapid detection systems in CBRN protection.
The Sensoft project focuses on the development of systems for detecting chemical threat agents in the air (for example, sarin gas, HCN), in internal environments of critical infrastructures. The project consists of the pioneering and comprehensive study of rapid detection systems in the area of CBRN (Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) protection based on strong cooperation and knowledge sharing between academia, specialized research centres and industry. In this context, a network of ultrasensitive microsensors for gas detection and a pre-concentration / gas sampling network comprising advanced molecular traps and SERS (Surface Enhanced Raman scattering) substrates are being studied and developed. The sensor network will be self-powered using harvesting energy methodologies. The project aims to establish an international and intersectoral network, composed of leading European academic institutions, academic RTD centres and SMEs, working on a joint research program.
