Innovative Multilayer Panels for Smart Buildings

The I-LSFastPanel project aims to develop an innovative system of prefabricated panels for construction, combining high thermal, acoustic and structural performance with low environmental impact.

Produced using a new cold-formed profile, these panels will enable the easy integration of utilities (such as electricity and water supply systems) and openings (doors and windows). A dedicated assembly system will also be developed, incorporating connecting components designed to simplify on-site installation and disassembly, while ensuring both tightness and structural strength.

The project also includes the development of flexible sensors – for temperature, humidity, gases, among others – to enable real-time monitoring of the system under actual site conditions.

Main Goals/Activities

  • Develop an innovative cold-formed steel profile, specifically designed for double-panel Light Steel Framing (LSF) systems;
  • Design an efficient assembly system, incorporating connection components that facilitate on-site installation and disassembly;
  • Develop double-wall solutions consisting of multilayer panels braced with innovative LSF profiles and joined using designed connection elements;
  • Integrate a sensor matrix, fully adapted to the multilayer construction system, for monitoring key parameters such as temperature, humidity, gases, deformation, and water detection.
