Development of technologies to create the next level of textile performance in the thermal chain: durability, thermal insulation and IR protection

The BløøkTex project proposes the development of a high-performance isothermal, multilayer textile-based solution for applications in the thermal chain of the food and pharmaceutical sectors.

To achieve this goal, different technological approaches are being explored to optimise a multilayer textile structure, with a focus on its main functional layers, namely:

  • Intermediate layer providing thermal insulation, composed of functional fibres;
  • Outer layer featuring infrared (IR) radiation reflection properties and easy-clean characteristics.

The combination of these multifunctional layers will enable synergistic effects, leading to an innovative solution with optimised thermal performance, high durability, wear resistance and ease of maintenance.

To achieve the project’s objectives, the BløøkTex consortium, led by ZØR, brings together entities with complementary competences along the textile value chain, from materials development to application.

Main Goals/Activities

  • Develop value-added functional coatings for application on textile substrates, with infrared (IR) radiation reflection properties and easy-clean characteristics.

  • Develop functional fibres with high thermal performance for application in textile structures.
  • Develop sustainable nonwovens (TNT) with high thermal performance, aimed at thermal chain applications.
