Pioneering sustainable water solutions for a changing World

The AquaNexus project aims to address the pressing challenges of water scarcity by developing technologies for the decentralised production of Water for Reuse (WfR). This approach enables the delivery of local solutions to a global issue, increasing the share of safely reused water while ensuring full environmental protection.

In addition to this core focus, the project includes three further research lines, aligned with its commitment to sustainability:

•    Development of monitoring and remote management systems;
•    Design of more sustainable raw materials;
•    Ecodesign of water treatment solutions.

Main Goals/Activities

  • Prevent and reduce the pollution of water resources, promoting the sustainable use of water, protecting and improving the aquatic environment, and mitigating the effects of floods and droughts;
  • Facilitate water reuse, whenever economically and environmentally appropriate, through the development of innovative technologies, methods, and tools;
  • Ensure fair and equitable access to water, recognising it not as a commercial commodity, but as a collective heritage that must be protected and preserved.
