FuEL: The program that fuelled innovative ideas
It was born to support ideas and make them sustainable and highly competitive businesses. FuEL “Future Entrepreneurs' League” is an Entrepreneurship Program, developed by CeNTI, INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and IPN - Pedro Nunes Institute, which brings together technology, science and creativity.
The program was run in two cycles and included several phases, from application, to selection and monitoring of Projects, including prototyping, incubation and awarding of prizes. The ideas that best associated technology, creativity and science were chosen and had the opportunity to develop, validate and accelerate it with the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Within the scope of the Program, an online platform, FuEL ROOM, was also developed and works as a marketplace for all entrepreneurs facilitating access to information regarding funding, incubation spaces and other specialized facilities and equipment, and to a vast network of national and international entrepreneurship ecosystem entities, namely research centres, start-ups, universities, public and private entities.
In addition to identifying new new highly disruptive opportunities with innovative technology-based solutions in the field of cultural and creative industries, FuEL's primary objective was to boost the development and empowerment of high value-added start-ups, contributing to increase competitiveness of the national business in its several areas.
The FUEL project was co-financed by Portugal 2020, under the Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization, in the amount of 318 thousand euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
